I am a Journeyman Carpenter.
It all started when I picked up my first skilsaw at the age of 14. And yes it was really a Skilsaw. It weight about 20 pounds because it was made of steel, not plastic parts like the ones today.
My Father was building an addition onto the side of the house, and I was outside trying to help. My uncle was there helping my father, and I wanted to cut a piece of 2 x 4.
Dad said no , and my uncle nodded and told me to go for it.
So I did.
From that day on, I knew I wanted to be a carpenter. It wasn't just about building something - it was the smell of the freshly cut wood. There was something about working with wood and creating something with my own hands that I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.
Its a good feeling to take something that needs some TLC and fix it up to new looking again.
